Metaphors and similes, while individually witty, are used in such abundance as to grow tiresome. At least they pretend to be. The author has stated in interviews that while Changeless and Blamelessthe second and third books in the series, were closely linked, Heartless will be more independent, in the manner of Soullessthe series’ first entry. OK, so much as I love the characters, I have to admit I was a teensy bit bored throughout most of this book.

It makes him a much more interesting character, not that he wasn’t one of my favorites before. Never having endured the condition myself, I did a lot of research into what it was like to be pregnant. These are hang-out books, and if you happen to love the characters as I do that state of affairs works out just fine. Further reflection to come once I figure out what I’m going to say I never liked this character.


You can really get a feel for the characters and the series when you read her blog and webpage so I recommend checking both of them out if you are interested in the series.

Floote was also a huge stand-out in this one, I was hoping he would get his moment eventually; he and Lyall are my favorites. These books are larger in size than the mass market editions, also the print is larger and easier to read. It’s also lovely to be back in London again with beartless the werewolves and vampires of the town. Carrgier Carriger is the most unique author I’ve ever come across.

I’ve been listening to all the Parasol Protectorate books by Gail Carriger and they’re just plain fun. A ghost appears to warn Alexia that there is a plot to kill the gqil afoot, and as muhjah it’s her duty to investigate and prevent said event from occurring. The reason this book felt like such a filler novel was because the plot supposedly revolved around a assassination plot against the Queen of England except for most of the book no one was ever really doing anything about it!!


The action and heargless of this one was brilliant and I flew through it, loving every page. Today trade paperbacks release of the final two Parasol Protectorate books, Heartless and Timeless. I am just unsure what went wrong here. Larry Dugan was a famous shoe-black at Dublin. I can only imagine what kind of silly little girl he’s going to help raise hide spoiler ] Plus he is tormenting poor Biffy!

Is it the vampires again or is there a traitor lurking about in wolf’s clothing? They bicker throughout, but the affection is deep and comes through in every scene.

And not just the one mystery, my fluffy ducklings, but several mysteries are unraveled concerning Alexia’s late father, Professor Lyall’s past and frankly, I could not get enough of Lord Akeldama calling him Dollyand what to do with poor Biffy.
