That’s one of those sections that hit me somewhere I didn’t know existed. Philibert gets married and he moves in a small apartment with his wife. And then there’s Philibert, the stuttering, tathering ‘rescuer’ who learns how to be not-scared. La vie, c’est tout.
She quits her job and opens an art studio in one of the empty rooms. Shared pain of past experiences, shared joy and frustration and kindnesses. Her excuse of course was that she was “scared”.

One day you feel like dying and the next you realize all you had to do was go down a few stairs to fi Huntinv was an okay read and more like a beach read: My favorite scene is the one where Camille, Franck and Philibert are practically kidnapping Paulette from the old people’s home in the middle of the night. I loved, loved, loved Philibert.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a hater of romance or comedy or even romantic comedies. The way Gavalda brings them together is very clever, and the way she takes the flaws in their characters and weaves in a realisation about friendship It’s just possible that I couldn’t anba this book down because I’m into avoidance tactics at the moment avoiding the study I need to do for my 4 exams coming up in 2 weeks timebut, nevertheless, I couldn’t put it down.
You could picture the way they appeared gatherring the world, but also the inner beauty and I loved this book. Together, this curious, damaged little quartet may be able to face the world.

I don’t like that This book. Amanda I think if you like the Hedgehog, you’ll like this one. I just don’t like it when they’re predictable because it’s formulaic and not very challenging to me as a story. His foul mouth got on my nerves too.

I was sad to put it down, but the overall experience was so satisfying that I would highly recommend this book to others. Camille gets better but Philibert likes her very much and he insists that she must stay in his apartment until spring. Comprised of a starving artist, her shy, aristocratic neighbor, his obnoxious but talented roommate, and a neglected grandmother, this curious, damaged quartet may be hhunting apart, but together, they may just be able to face the world.
She’s bones and grit and paint. To help us recommend your next hunitng, tell us what you enjoy reading. I just hate that gatherlng might be led astray by that. Nothing really monumental or dramatic happens, and instead the story is supported entirely by the four main characters.
I admired Gavalda’s anr in writing truth for her characters without ever showing judgment as an author- not even in the most subtle and unintentional way. Mathilde and Pierre are rich.
The second half other than the syrupy epilogue is not bad but simply very run-of-the-mill. I liked Paulette and Camille most of the time but I just couldn’t care about Franck.
